On April 27, 2010 around 8:30 a.m.  straight line
winds up to 80 mph hit the Garden Homes and
Armuchee areas.  Approximately 12 hours later, a high end F2 tornado hit Cave Spring, with a maximum wind speed of 125 mph. The storm ended around  9:06 pm in the area of US 411, 3 miles SW of Floyd/Bartow County. The Path Length of the storm was aproximately 23 miles long, with a width of 1/4 to 1/2 mile wide.  16,000 residents were left without power.
 
The Tax Assessor's Office has reported that 444 homes were damaged.  The estimated value of damages from this storm were $12,802,257.00.
